Floral or fruity?Of all the perfumes available each one is distinctly different from another, the difference could be very subtle or a contrasting difference like the distinction between floral perfume and the more fruity fragrances available. What’s the difference?Regardless of how many perfumes we stock there is one recurring question that comes up from customers time after time and year after year and that is, ‘What is the difference between Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum and Pure Perfume’? The answer is that they contain different levels of essential oils, the more essential oils a fragrance has the longer the effect will last. Eau de Parfum (6-8 hours duration) has a higher concentration of essential perfume oils than Eau de Toilette (3-4 hours duration) with Pure Perfumes having the longest duration of up to 12 hours. This is obviously reflected in the price and sometimes illustrated by the amount inside the actual bottle, for ultra sensitive skin an Eau de Toilette is sometimes a more non allergenic choice in comparison with the pure ranges. Regardless of what fragrance you use, the duration can be improved by a process of ‘layering.’ Layering involves preparing your skin prior to the application of any perfume. The process typically involves enjoying a refreshing shower or relaxing bath using perfumed bath crème or shower gel and then smoothing the body with the perfumed body lotion, if this process is followed the smell of the Eau de toilette or Eau de Parfum will generally last a lot longer in comparison with applying perfumes directly to the skin. Products for men of this nature are generally not referred to as perfume due to the feminine connotations associated with the word.
